Commitment to Excellence
Smoke Free Parks!
As the City continues its commitment to providing excellence in the quality of life for our residents and businesses in accordance with the City’s Mission Statement, further developments have taken place to achieve these goals. To start, all Lynwood City Parks will be smoke free starting on October 5th! With the new ordinance in place, you and your families will no longer be exposed the harmful effects of second-hand smoke or vapors while enjoying a visit to City parks. Violators will be subject to penalties and fines.
City Hall Annex
The construction of the City Hall Annex is progressing on schedule. The annex is a 10,430 square foot building to house a new Council Chamber, City Council and administrative offices, a data center, and lobby area which is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Phase I and Phase II of the Long Beach Boulevard project are huge undertakings and progress continues. Construction on the medians, streets, pedestrian pathways, lighting, traffic signals and curbs are just a few items on the list to be completed and will greatly enhance the flow of traffic.
Stop Sign and Pedestrian Crosswalk
A new stop sign and pedestrian crosswalk were installed on Lindbergh and Banning due to some close encounters reported near the Lindbergh Elementary School. The City conducted a Stop Sign Warrant Study, which satisfied the need to control vehicle and pedestrian conflicts. We are continuing to add to new exciting events to our calendar. Due to the huge success of the first Coffee with the City Manager: Community Edition, a new “Coffee with the City Manager: Business Edition” has been scheduled. We are inviting all local businesses in the City of Lynwood to join me on September 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. to sip coffee and discover ways to work together to improve our business community.
We have also added a new Tamale Festival which would not be complete without “The Best Tamale in Lynwood Contest”. This event will be held on October 7,2017 at 10am-2pm on the front Lawn of City Hall. We will continue improve the quality of life for our residents, continue to move forward with new projects that add service, and increase involvement to strengthening our City.
