$5,000 FINE FOR THE POSSESSION, DISCHARGE, OR SELLING OF ILLEGAL FIREWORKS IN LYNWOOD
The City of Lynwood has a‘Zero-Tolerance’ policy when it comes to illegal fireworks. The Lynwood City Council has made a significant change to the Lynwood Municipal Code regarding illegal fireworks by increasing the fines for possession, discharging, or selling illegal fireworks to $5,000 for each infraction. Firecrackers, bottle rockets, and mortars are all illegal! The discharge of these types of displays is strictly prohibited in Lynwood.
The Fourth of July is a time to be with family, friends, and for celebration of our country’s independence. If your celebration is going to include fireworks, remember that the City only allows the use of safe and sane fireworks. Safe and sane fireworks may only be discharged on July 4th from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and only in residential zones. It is against the law to discharge fireworks in City parks, parking lots, alleys, or in schools. To purchase safe and sane fireworks, you must be at least eighteen years of age. The City’s Public Safety Division and the LA County Sheriff’s Department enforce all applicable City and State laws all year round and will be issuing citations for administrative fines at $5,000 for each infraction regarding illegal fireworks.
If you See Something, Say Something! Residents can download the City’s “GoRequest” app and use it report any illegal use, sale, or possession of fireworks. They can also call the City’s Public Safety Division at (310) 603-0220 or the Century Sherriff’s Station at (323) 568-4800. Together, we can enjoy a safe holiday.
