Thousands of residents from Lynwood and nearby cities participated in the City of Lynwood Food Giveaway on Saturday morning. The event distributed much-needed food to families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“For those of who work in the City of Lynwood, we have long taken care of each other. We use the term #WeAreLynwood. This food giveaway is another example of us working to make sure our residents and our neighbors have enough to eat,” said Lynwood City Councilmember Jose Solache.
Dozens of volunteers worked to distribute 12,000 boxes of food to approximately 3,000 families. Each family received four boxes which contained meat, cheese, produce and dry goods.
Thank you to all our volunteers! They included recent graduates of Firebaugh and Lynwood High Schools and community members who wanted to spend a Saturday morning helping their community.
And a big THANK YOU to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Assemblymember Anthony Rendon for partnering with Lynwood to bring this event to our community and making sure our residents have enough food on the table.
