Have you noticed the traffic light signal cabinets painted with the theme of recycling. The cabinets were painted by Lynwood High School students. The Public Works Department solicited artwork from students to paint five cabinets in 2015 You may remember the program was featured on several news outlets and was success with the community.
It is time to update them and the city of Lynwood is using vinyl wrapping for the cabinets with artwork and images rom around Lynwood.
We think this not beautifies our city, but enhances the visibility of our local artists and raise awareness of public art,” said Sal Mendez, Lynwood Public Woks Director
The City currently has 55 cabinets that can be wrapped, 48 of which are maintained by the City. Econolite was the selected vendor to design, print, and install the vinyl wraps which are protective films that are resistant to spray paint, markers, adhesives and etching.
The Lynwood Union, in conjunction with the Department of Recreation & Community Services developed and selected the artwork.
