Congratulations Miguel Gonzalez Kid Mayor for the month of July
Miguel Gonzalez of Washington Elementary was “appointed” Lynwood’s Kid Mayor for the month of July.
Miguel, who will be a 6th grader this fall, appeared at the Lynwood City Council meeting on Tuesday July 3rd where he thanked his family and school officials for helping him achieve this honor.
You may see him with his parents at various city events during the month.
There are 12 elementary schools in the Lynwood Unified School District and each will be able to boast of having had a “Kid Mayor” serve for one month during 2018.
Miguel will receive, among other things, $400 toward her college education.
It’s the idea of Mayor Jose Solache who thinks the program can inspire our students to learn more about government and get active in the community.
Congratulations to Miguel and all of our “Kid Mayors!”
