There have been 110 new COVID-19 cases reported in Lynwood since Friday. The total number of cases reported stands at 1119.
These increases are being seen throughout California which is why Governor Newsom reinstated the rule that everyone needs to wear a mask.
The question is are you always wearing a mask?
Looking around the city over the weekend, many people have relaxed, are not using proper social distancing nor wearing masks.
That’s not a good thing.
While people who are over 65 and have underlying medical conditions are still the most at risk, it’s the increasing number of adults under 65—and especially under 40–who are contracting the disease.
LA County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer reminded all of us Monday that these rules are being recommended because the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency is not nearly over.
“As public health officials, we try hard not to be influenced by partisan politics or public sentiment–we must follow the science in order to save lives,” she said. And the science says if we don’t change the way we go about our daily routines, we could pay for it with our lives or the lives of others around us.”
That’s why you’ll see all Lynwood employees practicing safe social distance and wearing masks.
We can all do this because
