Being involved in Lynwood is very important to Rev. Robert Robinson, Sr., a pastor who has volunteered with the City for many years to keep it safe for his family and residents of Lynwood. Rev. Robinson, originally for Dallas, moved to Lynwood with his family after serving in the military. The Robinsons have lived on the same street for 45 years. He was married to his wife for 63 years. They had six children and six grandchildren with more on the way. “I was drawn to Lynwood because it was a growing city, so diverse and the people were friendly,” recalled Rev. Robinson. You may know him as the president and a member of the Lynwood Block Watch. Or you may recognize him as the Chairperson of the City of Lynwood Personnel Board. He started serving on the Personnel Board with Andrea Hooper, the City’s former City Clerk. He has also volunteered with local Boy and Cub Scout Clubs. “I continue to volunteer because it’s part of my nature. I love to be involved in activities and organization within the City,” he said. Rev. Robinson Sr. is a retired pastor but is still active and continues to provide pastoral services for City meetings and events. He added “You can retire from being a pastor, but not from preaching and blessing people.” Although he is 85 years young, he plans to continue volunteering and giving his time as long as he is able.
