When Lynwood Mayor José Luis Solache launched the Kid Mayor program in 2015, it was designed to educate young people about the importance of public service.
Kid Mayors would serve for a month, representing the City at public events. There are 12 elementary schools in Lynwood, so each month would feature a Kid Mayor from a different school.
As part of their reward, the Kid Mayors were promised $400 toward their college funds.
Yesterday Mayor Solache, who served as Mayor in 2015 and again in 2018, presented $400 checks to the 24 Kid Mayors from 2015 and 2018.
Congratulations to all.
