Lincoln Elementary’s Leonardo Ramirez Appointed Lynwood’s “Kid Mayor”
A 5th grader from Lincoln Elementary will serve as Lynwood’s “Kid Mayor” in September. Leonardo Ramirez took the gavel at Tuesday’s City Council meeting, and like eight Lynwood youth before him, brought the Council meeting to order.
Leonardo, his parents and his principal at Lincoln, Geraldine Rescinito, all attended the meeting.
The “Kid Mayor” program is the brainchild of Mayor Jose Solache and identifies a youngster from each of Lynwood’s 12 schools to serve as Kid Mayor for a month.
In addition to representing the city at certain events in September, Leonardo received a $400 check toward his college education.
In his “acceptance speech”, Kid Mayor Ramirez said, “I’m looking forward to all the experience I will gain from this program.”
Congrats to Leonardo!
