The first stage of the inspections of Lynwood’s 22 motels by the city of Lynwood’s Public Safety Division has concluded.
“All 22 motels have been inspected,” said JD Whitaker, Public Safety Manager for the city of Lynwood. “We will continue to work with the owners and managers going forward to make sure that the motels meet all requirements.
Officers documented any code violations, and were looking into all licensing issues, inspected all fire and smoke detectors and made sure the motels have and are keeping current required paperwork.
Part of why the inspections were ordered by City Manager Jose Ometeotl was to discourage prostitution in the city. No prostitution or prostitutes were in sight during the inspections.
“The goal of these inspections is to promote public safety and public health,” said the city manager. “In addition, we are making the statement that the prostitution which these motels have attracted needs to go elsewhere.”
