Lynwood residents are invited to participate in the LASD Century Station’s Community Academy (also referred to at the Citizen’s Academy). This eight-week program is open to all adult residents and business owners or employees from the communities served by Century Station.
The Community Academy is an eight-week course that will be taught one night a week by Century Sheriff’s Station deputy personnel, Thursday, March 19, 2020 6pm to 8pm and every Thursday thereafter with graduation on Thursday, May 7, 2020.
The program will strengthen the line of communication between Century Sheriff Station and the communities it serves. During the eight-week course, students will receive an overview of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, participate in role playing, and learn about immigration, homelessness, traffic laws, marijuana dispensaries, and the complaint process.
The participants will also attend a field trip to tour the Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF) in Lynwood. Upon completion of the program, every participant will receive a ‘Certificate of Participation.’
