The City of Lynwood’s Community Development Department’s Task Force with the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the City’s Business License, Public Safety and City Attorney Departments continue to address all businesses in violation of municipal code.
Last week, the Task Force focused on the Cortland Street/Louise Avenue/Wright Road industrial area. Public Works and Public Service Officers continue to monitor that citations and code violations are being corrected.
They met with the owner of a large vacant parcel at Long Beach Blvd. and Norton Ave. where officers found 17 unhoused individuals, which included one pregnant person. Officers were able to have the Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care System (HOPICS), the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the property owner present at the clean-up. HOPICS successfully encouraged three people to accept services who then left with their team. The owner will continue cleanup and provide new fencing to protect the vacant parcel from further encampments.
Officers will continue to work closely with businesses and property owners in order to bring all businesses in to compliance. This week they will be at another commercial location in Lynwood.
