Like a lot of people, I need to lose a few pounds—and never seem to get around to actually getting started.
Well, last Saturday, I got started along with nearly 80 other people who have signed up for the Lynwood Weight Loss Challenge.
Before I forget, even though it started last Saturday, you can still join, but more on that in a moment.
You don’t do this alone—you are part of a team. In fact, I’m captain of my team which have called “Netflix and Treadmills”.
In the first week, we each weighed in. determined a meal plan and workout schedule. That’s something we each do individually. But we also come away knowing that it’s important to motivate our team to reach their weight loss goals.
Our team of four have a goal to lose to 150 lbs by the end of 12 weeks. Our first weigh-in is this Saturday.
So far we have 15 teams—and have room for a few more.
If you’d like to join please contact the Recreation and Community Service Department at (310) 603-0220 x 319.
The Lynwood Weight Challenge is part of the city’s larger Healthy Community Initiative which is managed by our Recreation and Community Services Director Mark Flores.
“The community absolutely loves the program since it promotes getting fit and healthy in a fund and supportive environment,” said Flores. “We frequently hear inspiring stories from participants about the life-changing impact of the program. Many of the participants have held their personal lives significantly changed for the better as the team concept of this program allowed them to participate and interact with like-minded, fellow residents.”
