The City of Lynwood Recreation and Community Services Department hosted its annual Miss &
Mr. Lynwood Scholarship Competition in front of a packed house at the Lynwood High School Performing Arts Center.
“I’m excited, I want to cry,” said the new Miss Lynwood, Gisselle Robledo. “I really love this community and I really love this city and I want to do my best to represent it.”
“I’m so excited for our future year,” said newly crowned Mr. Lynwood Alfredo Reyes. “I’m already motivated and I am ready to get started tomorrow!”
This exciting program offers local student contestants the opportunity to display their talents and compete for scholarships, as well as the honor of being crowned Miss & Mr. Lynwood for 2020.
“It was the first time I’ve ever done a pageant and made so many good friends and I was so happy to be a part of it,” said participant Violette Moreno.
“We are so proud of our youth for taking the time to get involved and sharing their amazing energy and passion,” said Lynwood Mayor Jose Luis Solache. “This scholarship competition provides our young people an important opportunity to grow and develop the skills they will need to success in life.”
“It’s very important that their voices are heard,” said Mark Flores, Lynwood’s Parks & Community Services Director. “That they’re an active and listened-to part of our community.”
Qualifying applicants prepared a group presentation based on their skills and talents and as the competition progressed, contestants were pared down to solo performances where they were able to shine individually in their selected showcase. The newly crowned Miss & Mr. Lynwood 2020 will represent the community at events and will show their proud faces at the upcoming Christmas Parade.
