Last week, the City of Lynwood completed the Australian Willow tree planting along Brewster Avenue as part of the Brewster Avenue Improvement Project’s final phase. The City chose the Australian Willow trees because they retain their green leaves throughout the year. The trees are also low maintenance with deep roots and are known to be pest-free.
The trees are a great addition to the project and will be well-received by the residents. Besides the Australian Willows, the project consisted of new water lines, new fire hydrants, new water valves with valve boxes, resurfaced street, along with new curb and gutter replacement and new sidewalks.
Infrastructure projects such as the one on Brewster Avenue are funded through a combination of local tax revenue, federal funding based on the Census and other sources.
