You may have noticed new BLUE recycling carts delivered to your homes. If yours hasn’t been delivered yet, expect it by the end of this week.
This program is part of a statewide effort to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants. All cities, including Lynwood, are mandated to reduce waste and rescue surplus food sources. Homes and businesses will be required to sort waste separately from other trash.
Items for the BLUE CART:
- Cartons
- Glass Containers
- Metal Cans and CLEAN Foil
- Paper, Newspapers, Magazines, Phone Books, Envelopes, Flattened Cardboard
Items for the GREEN CART:
Loose items including:
- Grass, Leaves and Flowers
- Small Branches less than Three (3) Inches Thick and Four (4) Feet Long
- Untreated, Clean Wood Scraps
Items in a Clear Bag:
- Biodegradable Paper Plates and Bowls
- Coffee Grounds and Filters, Tea and Tea Bags
- Food Scraps and Leftovers
- Soiled/Greasy Paper and Boxes
- Paper Napkins and Towels
Collection from the blue carts will begin the week of July 1.
