Now that school is well underway, the Public Works Department has completed its “homework” by making sure the streets are safe in and around school zones.
Completed projects include:
– Painted legends, curbs and crosswalks at all Lynwood elementary, middle and high school locations for new school year. More than 177 linear feet of yellow curbing have been painted.
– Cleared right of way parkways and tree wells at all Lynwood elementary, middle and high school locations for the new school year.
– Installed and placed of new safety Traffic Calming Devices at all Lynwood schools
– Installed and placed new school street signs
The Public Works Department was very busy in the weeks before the start of school with more than 5,524 feet of crosswalks painted at multiple school locations.
Student safety is a top priority for the City. Lynwood is able to prioritize these projects with funds from Measure PS, which is earmarked for public safety, public works and recreational services.
