The work of the Lynwood Public Works Department was on full display last week as crews did extensive preparation for the Lynwood Candy Cane Lane Christmas Parade and ensured that residents were kept dry during the rainstorms. This was in addition to the weekly work Lynwood City crews perform to keep the city safe and clean.
Here is just a small sample of what the City accomplished:
Parade Prep – by the numbers:
– 60 Christmas decorations place on Lynwood boulevards
– 975 barricades placed along the parade route
– 3000 parking restriction signs posted
– Removed all the barricades and parking signs after the parade
Rainstorm Response:
– Prepared and distributed 117 sandbags to residents
– Cleared 104 storm drains and catch basins
– Alerted residents of possible flooding in six locations
Keeping Lynwood Safe:
– Filled potholes across the City
– Removed hazardous waste, including hypodermic needles and used oil from various locations across the City
– Identified sidewalks for future repairs
Keeping Lynwood Clean:
– Removed bulky items and debris from 94 miles of City streets and alleys (Atlantic alley, Duncan/Beechwood, MLK, Jr/Imperial and many more)
– Removed graffiti from City parks
– Removed concert and advertising signs from City streets
