Progress is continuing on the exciting new Urban Bike Trail located adjacent to 105 FWY from Birch Street to Wright Road. The land is excess Caltrans land, and it’s being put to excellent use.
The construction includes a Class 1 bike path, landscaping, planting of trees, installation of drinking fountains, lighting and traffic signage.
The project budget is just under $7.7 million and is being fund with a variety of sources including California Natural Resources Agency, San Gabriel, and Lower Los Angeles Rivers ad Mountains Conservancy (RMC) grant, Prop C, and Measure M Bonds.
“It’s one of many projects we are kicking off in the city of Lynwood,” said Lynwood Mayor Jorge Casanova. “We are proud to be one of the first projects in the state with Cal Trans to utilize this type of land and turn it into something useful and fun for our residents.”
It’s expected to be completed in November! We will let you when it’s open. It will be one of the best bike trails in our region when it’s done.
