We hear you.
We also hear the nightly barrage of illegal fireworks that explode late every night and into the early morning hours. It keeps everyone awake and frightens our children and our pets.
Starting today, a team of four deputies and a sergeant from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Century Station will begin fireworks suppression efforts in the City of Lynwood. This team is dedicated to keeping Lynwood safe and quiet and will work through the 4th of July. This is by far the earliest we have had a suppression team put into place.
We will continue to let you and our community know that the possession, discharge and sale of illegal fireworks is a $5,000 fine for each charge.
As a Lynwood resident, you don’t have to accept living with the nightly sounds of a war zone in your backyard. You can speak up and discuss this issue with your neighbors. If that doesn’t work, you can help identify those causing the problem through Lynwood’s Online Request Form or the Go Request App – http://lynwood.ca.us/submit-request/
Let’s work together to solve this problem! And then we can get a good night’s sleep!
