The City of Lynwood’s Public Works crews cleared about 94 miles of alleys of illegally dumped trash and debris last week. Lynwood’s alleys are cleaned on a 10–14-day rotation to ensure that all alleys are cleaned on a regular basis.
The alleys cleaned were:
- Brenton and St. Emydius – full alley abatement included carts full transient debris, mattresses, pallets, 50-gallon bags trash, dressers, dining tables and debris (22,000 square feet)
- Cortland south alley Harris to Elm abatement of bulky items, trash and debris removal (14,000 square feet)
- Walnut south alley Harris to Elm abatement of bulky items, trash and debris removal (14,000 square feet)
- Platt south alley abatement from Muriel to Harris of bulky items, trash and debris removal (11,000 square feet)
- Fernwood north and Muriel to Harris alley abatement of bulky items, trash and debris removal (11,000 square feet)
- Winchell’s alley from Linden to Pine full debris abatement couches, carts debris, bags trash, oil, office chairs and vacuums (6,600 square feet)
In addition, crews picked up illegally dumped items, trash and debris from 48 separate locations throughout the City, pressured washed 20 bus stops, repaired 73 potholes and 42 street signs, and removed debris from three separate transient locations. (This is only a sample of the work completed by crews last week – we don’t have room for everything they did to keep Lynwood clean.)
Reminder: Households found to have illegally dumped will be invoiced for the cost of clean-up. Last week, two households were invoiced. To avoid being charged for clean-up, please properly dispose of your unwanted items.
Let’s all work together to keep our City clean and safe because #WeAreLynwood!
