This week, three households were invoiced for the cost of illegally dumping items on public property. It’s an expensive bill that can cost you more than $1,000.
It takes a lot of staff time, equipment costs and other fees to clear illegally dumped items from Lynwood’s streets and alleys. Last week alone, Lynwood’s Public Works crews cleared illegally dumped items from 84 different locations and those items included furniture, car parts, appliances and a Christmas tree!
Lynwood crews clean the City’s alleys on a 10-14-day rotation to ensure that the alleys are serviced on the regular basis – that amounts to clearing about 200,000 square feet of trash and debris every week.
Please do your part in keep Lynwood’s streets, alleys and other public spaces clean by properly disposing of your unwanted items. Alternatives to illegal dumping include:
- Call Bulky Item Services at (888) 467-7600
- Donate unwanted furniture, household items, clothing and other items to organizations such as the Salvation Army, Goodwill or other non-profit thrift stores.
- Sell your unwanted items during one of Lynwood’s Yard Sale weekends or list your items for sale online.
Reminder – Yard Sales return to Lynwood this weekend! Your trash could be someone else’s treasure! Make sure you have a yard sale permit – you can get one at: http://lynwood.ca.us/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Yard-Sale-Permit-Application.pdf?fbclid=IwAR0hswYxV588njkV6zfiMQwb7hH8C5X8DMMSoH8PdBLQ4ZznV89KorWow2E
