Kid Mayor For June Takes Over
Luna Gonzalez, a fifth grader at Mark Twain school, opened the June 5 Lynwood city Council meeting with great confidence.
Luna is the sixth “Kid Mayor” to be installed this year. She will serve for the month of June.
You may see her at City sponsored events in June.
There are 12 elementary schools in Lynwood and each school chooses a student to serve for a month.
Luna will receive, among other things, $400 toward her college education.
The idea of having a “Kid Mayor” was created by Lynwood Mayor Jose Solache to inspire more young people to get involved in public service.
