Estrella Jimenez of Lugo Elementary in Lynwood has been selected as the Kid Mayor for November.
Estrella called the November 6th Lynwood City Council meeting to order with great enthusiasm. She told the City Council that she is “very happy” to be named the Kid Mayor and she called it a “great opportunity”.
Mayor Solache said that he has been told that Estrella “represents all young girls very well.” She will receive $400 toward her college education and will represent the City at various functions during the month.
The Kid Mayor program has been promoted by Mayor Solache in order to inspire more young people to public service. There are twelve elementary schools in the Lynwood School District and each school will have had the honor of having a student serve as Kid Mayor this year.
