Some 8,000 Los Angeles County residents–including a group from the City of Lynwood–fanned out across the county last week to do what was called a “homeless count”.
The idea is to quantify how many homeless live in the county. Last year’s count found 52,765 homeless people in Los Angeles County. The 2019 count has not been finalized for either the county or our city.
If you remember, voters in LA County passed Measure H in 2017 which is generating $350 million in sales tax revenue which will be spent to help person with re-entry, fund shelters and work programs and subsidized housing in addition to many other categories that can help homeless youth, families and adults.
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped our efforts in the City of Lynwood.
