You may be already hearing them — the sound of illegal fireworks in Lynwood. You may have ALSO heard that the City’s no-tolerance policy is being rigorously enforced.
Already, this month the City has issued two $10,000 citations and one $5,000 citation for fireworks violations and it’s still May.
The Lynwood City Council last year passed new and tougher guidelines that are designed to crack down on illegal fireworks—which are a public safety hazard in our city.
As a reminder, here are the fines:
It will cost you $5,000 for possession of dangerous fireworks.
You will be fined $5,000 for discharging dangerous and/or screaming fireworks.
You will be fined $5,000 for the sale of dangerous fireworks.
It’s a $5,000 fine if you set off safe and sane fireworks in any manner other than in compliance with the instructions of the manufacturer.
If you wonder how dangerous fireworks are, more than 12,000 people in the nation are injured every year by using fireworks. From mid-June to mid-July, emergency rooms around the country see up to 200 people every day!
Let’s be safe and smart this year!
