As if clearing 94 miles of Lynwood alleys of illegal dumping, repairing 365 potholes citywide, making sure all City facilities are cleaned and sanitized and countless other tasks that make Lynwood safe and clean – Lynwood’s Public Works crews had to repaint crosswalks damaged by burnouts and street racing!
Not only are these activities dangerous to the participants and innocent drivers trying to get home, they also make Lynwood less safe by damaging the roadway. Two locations needed repainted crosswalks: at Atlantic Ave. and MLK, Jr. Blvd and Atlantic Ave. and Fernwood Ave.
You may have noticed street signs that discourage reckless driving (that includes burnouts) in these areas.
Century Station has reported 18 citations have been issued. And, if a driver is caught doing burnouts or street racing, their car could be impounded for 30 days.
If you know anyone who participates in these activities, please try to dissuade them and let them know the damage it inflicts on our citizens, our streets and our safety.
