The Lynwood voter-approved Measure PS is a one-cent sales tax with a provision to sunset in ten years (2026). The City faces a deadline to extend Measure PS indefinitely as the County of Los Angeles is planning to raise its sales tax to the maximum level allowed by state law. If the County raises the sales tax and Measure PS expires, Lynwood residents would pay the same amount of sales tax. But instead of the dollars going toward Lynwood’s infrastructure, public safety and programs for residents, the money would be dispersed throughout the County.
WHEN DO I VOTE?
Lynwood voters will be able to decide whether their sales tax stays within the City or is distributed to the County on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Bateman Hall.
